Two sisters.
A shared love of music.
A small idea, just beginning.
Music in Nature is a young musician led concert series that supports community charities through live performance.
Where this began
It began with a simple idea:
that music, when shared, can do more than entertain. It can bring people together, and quietly support the community around us.
The first concert grew from the enthusiasm of two sisters, Min and Fei, young musicians from The Friends’ School in Hobart, who wanted to share their music in a way that could also support others.
They had seen, in quiet ways, how music can reach people.
Time spent with an elderly family friend living with dementia showed them how a simple melody could bring moments of calm and recognition.
And through a small Cancer Council bake sale at school, they began to understand how even simple efforts can support others.
With the encouragement of family, teachers and friends, that small idea is slowly taking shape, growing into a community concert series led by young musicians.
What we are doing now
As we prepare for our first concert, Music in Nature aims to bring students together to perform, collaborate and support charity partners through live music in warm and welcoming settings.
Each concert will support a charity partner.
Sometimes we may continue supporting the same organisation, and at other times we partner with different charities working in our community.
The intention remains the same:
to share music as a way of caring for others.
Our hope for the future
We hope this can grow into something that continues year after year:
a space where music, community and generosity come together.
Something small, but meaningful.
Allowed to grow, in its own time.
Music grows when we gather.
